Hey, I’m Jessica…
I’m passionate about making intelligent investment choices which create value for society, the company and the investor. I have a BASc in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MRes in Nanomaterials from Imperial College London.
Towards, the end of my postgraduate degree, I became interested in entrepreneurship and investment, specifically as it relates to accelerating companies involved in sciences and deep technology. I received a certificate in Venture Capital from NYU, a certificate in Value Investing from Columbia and most recently, a certificate in Managerial Finance from LSE. Lots of certificates – but not too bad to get through after an engineering degree! I also spent a year consulting early-stage start-ups on the various types of investment suitable for their businesses.
The purpose of Rebel Rocketship is to act as a bit of an information hub for both investment and for deep tech. The investment style I admire most is Buffet-style, value investment in high-quality companies – so expect to find everything from intrinsic valuations of longstanding businesses to reviews of books written by the likes of Jeremy Miller and Phil Fisher! As for science/deep tech – my passion is essentially boundless, but I tend to focus on biotechnology, particle + accelerator physics and of course my first love, nanomedicine.
Finally, why the name Rebel Rocketship? I honestly just thought it sounded cool š
